Chatham Dock

Overview

Chatham Dock handles in excess of 1 million tonnes of cargo a year and occupies one of three basins of the former naval dockyard.

Medway Ports has a landlord role, operating one berth itself.

A team of 10 are responsible for operating and maintaining the lock on a 24 hour basis, carrying out berthing duties and maintaining the dock estate.

Chatham has a minimum depth of eight metres in the basin for vessels up to 143 metres long and 25 metres wide.
